Travis County is taking a draft of its parks master plan out for a test drive. Transportation and Natural Resources staff are holding public meetings for residents to provide feedback on the master plan document, called “…Take It Outside! The Next Ten Years.” The plan will ultimately provide a road map for building a “Travis County park system that meets the recreational and conservation needs of a rapidly growing, urbanizing county.” According to a Transportation and Natural Resources spokesperson, the plan prioritizes construction in the eastern half of the county of a new “19-mile greenway and trail system” stretching from Pflugerville to the Colorado River, as well as continued development of Reimers Ranch Park in western Travis County. There will be six public meetings scheduled through late March and early April, and all are listed on the county’s website.
