Ott names new Assistant City Manager
City Manager Marc Ott today named Robert Goode from the City of Fort Worth as a new Assistant City Manager for the City of Austin.
Goode has served as Director of Transportation and Public Works for the City of Fort Worth since September 2002. In that role, he has supervised more than 400 employees working in the major areas of streets, storm water, bridges, transportation planning and development, facilities management, and traffic engineering and operations.
“Robert Goode brings a wealth of experience to the City of Austin and a fresh perspective on the challenges we face,” Ott said. “I have no doubt that his background, experience and knowledge will be well utilized as we address the complex transportation issues our community faces in the years ahead.”
As Assistant City Manager, Goode will oversee the City departments of Aviation, Public Works, and Solid Waste Services.
Goode has more than a decade of experience in city and county government holding public works and engineering positions with the City of Olympia, Wash., and Travis County. In Travis County, he served as Director of Planning and Engineering Services for two years and Floodplain Administrator for four years. He has also worked in various private sector engineering firms. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho.
He becomes the fifth Assistant City Manager joining Rudy Garza, Laura Huffman, Michael McDonald and Bert Lumbreras.
Goode is expected to begin his position with the City of Austin on March 24.
