Travis County finances for July 8, 2014

Here’s the Monitor’s weekly rundown of Travis County fiscal action for the second week in July.

 

County-approved expenditures totaled $1,954,884.90 this week.

• $176,700 to increase the amount paid to Kiewit Building Group for the Executive Office Building HVAC Upgrades Project. The increase in contract amount will go to additional electrical work and lobby improvements. The total contract sum now totals at $3,975,780 from the county’s last increase of the contract to $3,799,080. The construction contract also has an added 49 calendars to finish the project.
• $1,490,398.86 to reimburse United Health Care for claims paid for participants in the Travis County Employee Health Care Fund during the period of June 20 to June 26, 2014.
• $35,896 to Klotz Associates for the Bee Creek Road Design Project. The project is a 1.4 mile, two-lane roadway to be improved and expanded into a four-lane divided roadway. Within the past 12 months the county has spent $100,069.44 on the project out of the newly increased budget of $751,898.
• $54,560 to increase an existing contract amount with ImageSoft, Inc. for an Imaging and Document Management System for the county and the County Clerk’s office. The original contract was approved on August 12, 2012.
• $191,247.50 in county matching funds for an interlocal agreement between the county Transportation and Natural Resources Department and the City of Austin for the Decker Lane sidewalk improvement project. The city of Austin will pay for an equal amount of matching funds. The rest of the project will be funded through a Texas Department of Transportation grant at an amount of $1,529,977 for a total project amount of $1,912,472.
• $6,082.66 to individual county employees for the county’s Tuition Reimbursement Program.Some of the classes taken by our county employees include “Intro to Paralegalism,” “Mathematics for Teachers” and “Reading in Criminal Justice.”

 

Travis County received $9,975 from the March of Dimes in dedicated grant funding to support the Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Support Program through the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The program is for pregnant women incarcerated at the Travis county Correctional Complex.

 

The county received $14,880 in extra revenue in reimbursement revenue from Texas AgriLife Extension Service afterschool youth enrichment fees through the Travis County 4-H Capital Project. The money will go to fund Travis County Health & Human Services and Veteran’s Services. The county received similar funds last week and expects future AgriLife revenue to go toward HHS.
