Flannigan, Wiley top fundraisers in District 6

District 6 is the most north, west, and right-leaning district in the city, and includes portions of Williamson County, Avery Ranch and Robinson Ranch within its borders. At the close of the first financial reporting period, Jimmy Flannigan and Jay Wiley were the fundraising leaders in the district, with one other candidate close behind and a fourth raising relatively little.

Flannigan raised $22,930 in this reporting period, with $13,783 remaining on hand. His financial supporters include Judge James Nowlin, former Council Member Randi Shade, lobbyist Glen Coleman, Amy’s Ice Cream co-owner Steve Simmons, Equality Texas Executive Director Chuck Smith and downtown advocate Josh Allen.

Former Presidential aide Wiley has raised $22,605 so far, which he combined with a loan of $11,025. Of that total, $23,957 remains on hand.

Those donating to his campaign include attorney and Travis County Republican Vice Chair Roger Borgelt, Assistant Attorney General Linda Halpern and fellow City Council candidate (District 8) Ellen Troxclair

Pete Phillips Jr. has raised $20,466 so far, and reported having $7,325 cash on hand. His contributors include pro golfer Ben Crenshaw. Unlike some of the other candidates, many of Phillips contributors during this period live outside of Austin, making the long list of supporters less familiar.

Matt Stillwell was the only candidate in the district to bring in less than $10,000, raising $7,451, with $4,485 remaining on hand. His contributors include self-described “infill home builder” David Whitworth, mayoral candidate Randall Stephens, and former Texas House District 50 candidate Jade Chang Sheppard.
