U.S. Highway 183 commuters beware. The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is doing some work to the area beginning today and stretching through the end of October. Loyola Lane east of the highway is going to be reduced to a single lane in each direction. Additionally, one left turn lane on southbound U.S. 183 will be closed. Finally, a single section of the sidewalk on Loyola (east of U.S. 183) will be closed to pedestrians. The discomfort will hopefully be worth it, though: The agency is building new “general purpose lanes” on U.S. 183 North where the highway crosses Loyola. Suggested detours include Johnny Morris Road, Old Manor Road, Springdale and Manor roads, and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
