This Saturday, people across the country will observe “Take a Loved One for a Checkup Day” as part of a national initiative aimed at encouraging people of color to visit their doctor. Locally, Austin Public Health’s Health Equity Unit is holding an event on Saturday (Sept. 16) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Delco Activity Center (4601 Pecan Brook Drive). According to a press release about the event, “Free health screenings at the event will include blood sugar, blood pressure, pregnancy testing as well as HIV/STI testing and flu vaccinations. There will be over (40) medical and service providers attending this event to help provide great resources for the community.”
