As part of our ongoing effort to keep readers up to date with all that is going on at City Hall, we present our TipSheet for Austin City Council committees. As usual, we will be offering highlights of meetings, with links to entire agendas.

This week, Council has its full work session Tuesday, and its full meeting Thursday. Things are relatively slow in committee land.

Public Safety Council Committee

Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, 4 p.m.

4. 4:30 PM: Staff briefing, invited testimony, and policy discussion regarding police body cameras, including Austin Police Department’s request for proposal update.

Monitor’s take: City Council members approved $3 million for police body cameras as part of their Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget. The four CMs on this committee are set to begin the operative portion of this conversation. As a primer, they’ve posted 22 questions, along with answers from APD, about the pilot – including several aimed at what portions of the videos would be made available to the public.

Mobility Council Committee

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, 3 p.m.

1. Tour of the Austin Transportation Management Center.

Monitor’s take: This is exactly what it says it is. Not the most thrilling event for your local press corps. But, nonetheless, it is a posted meeting, and thus we offer it to you.
