This year’s “It’s My Park Day” will be the largest in the event’s history, according to an announcement from the Austin Parks Foundation, which hosts the annual event. In its 14th year, the event is actually several in one. On Saturday, March 5, more than 3,500 volunteers will be participating in 115 improvement projects around the city. Projects will include “mulching, creek cleaning, tree pruning, trash pick-up, planting and garden and trail cleanup,” according to the Austin Parks Foundation. “The increase in projects demonstrates our parks are being utilized, increasing the need for improvements and maintenance,” said Austin Parks Foundation Executive Director Colin Wallis in the announcement about the event. “These community spaces remain underfunded and under resourced. They need to be a priority for our community to remain exceptional Austin amenities.” More info is available here, and volunteer registration is available here.
