The city has announced a series of upcoming opportunities for public engagement with CodeNEXT, the ongoing effort to update the city’s Land Development Code. In-person events include an April 4 public-input session with the CodeNEXT Advisory Group (location to be announced) and an April 6 “community walk” beginning at 9 a.m. at Once Over Coffee, 2009 S. First St. City staff will also give presentations for groups and organizations by request. The city is also considering turning the tables and listening to citizen presentations about CodeNEXT. Those who would like to participate from the comfort of their own homes can join the SpeakUp Austin! discussion forum or participate in a Reddit Q&A on March 29 (sign up here). For now, most of these fora will focus on “managing our growth; keeping our character,” the first of four topics to be explored this year, ahead of the anticipated January 2017 publication of the draft Land Development Code in its entirety.
