A group of local organizations – including Leadership Austin, Interfaith Action Central Texas, Civic Collaboration and Community Advancement Network – is hosting a series of meetings inviting community members to share ideas for addressing Austin’s widening economic gap. Called “Building a Community of Equity and Opportunity: How Do We Bridge the Economic Divide?,” the series will focus on accomplishing three things: deepening participants’ understanding of the relevant issues, exploring potential solutions to the problem and identifying “actions for moving forward.” The first meeting will take place on May 17 in Central Austin at the First United Methodist Church, 1201 Lavaca St., from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is free. Subsequent meetings will be held in South Austin (June 21) and Northeast Austin (June 27).
