The Travis County Commissioners Court has put out a call for applicants to serve on the board of directors for the new Austin/Travis County Sobriety Center. According to the announcement from the court, the board “will organize, plan, hire the Executive Director, and supervise the sobriety center.” Successful applicants will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: legal, behavioral health, community advocacy, medical, chemical dependency/addiction, public health, business/tax or philanthropy/fundraising. The board currently has four vacancies to be filled by the Commissioners Court. Applications are due Aug. 18; appointees will begin their terms Sept. 1.
