The new Austin/Travis County Sobriety Center needs people to serve on its board of directors, and the Travis County Commissioners Court has put out a call for applicants to fill the four seats it appoints to the board. (The city of Austin appoints four seats as well, and the county and city jointly fill a seat; the board will have nine members total.) According to an announcement from the county, applicants should have some experience or knowledge in one of the following relevant areas: legal, behavioral health, community advocacy, medical, chemical dependency/addiction, public health, business/tax or philanthropy/fundraising. The court aims to fill its four seats by Sept. 1. The application packet, along with general information about the board, is available here or by phone, at 512-854-4774.
