It’s that time of year again: Austin Water began its annual wastewater averaging cycle this week, which means that AW customers’ water usage for the next three billing periods has repercussions for the rest of the service year. The utility takes water use during this period and uses it to determine wastewater costs for the entire service year, and the less water customers use, the less they will have to pay. An announcement from Austin Water recommends conservation during this period as well as various water-saving actions, such as fixing leaky faucets and turning off irrigation systems during the colder months.
