As an early Christmas present, the city has released a recap of the CodeNEXT Density Bonus Analysis stakeholder meetings that happened earlier this month. During the meetings, which were a collaboration between the city and the consulting firm EcoNW, stakeholders discussed how CodeNEXT could use density bonuses to promote affordable housing in the city. The nuts and bolts of what those benefits might be – units, building height, etc. – are still being worked out and will be included in the CodeNEXT draft code, which is scheduled for release early next year. Joseph Caterine reported earlier this month on what a challenge it is going to be to make that Jan. 30 deadline.

This story has been corrected since publication to reflect that Jan. 30, not Jan. 29, is the firm, not tentative, release date for the draft code, according to CodeNEXT spokeswoman Alina Carnahan.
