As it has done the past two years, the Austin Monitor sought to interview every incoming and outgoing City Council member to get their thoughts on the past year of city politics and what they hope to accomplish in the coming 12 months. This year, all 11 people who will be on the dais in 2017 agreed to an interview, as did outgoing Council Member Don Zimmerman, who lost his bid for re-election to Jimmy Flannigan in November. The only one who passed on the opportunity was outgoing Council Member Sheri Gallo, who was unseated in a Dec. 13 runoff election by Alison Alter. An aide said she was too busy in her last weeks in office to sit down for an interview.
