Learn more about the candidates in the running to fill the District 6 spot on the Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees at three separate meetings later this month. The vacancy was created in April when Paul Saldaña left suddenly due to “a culmination of things,” as he later told the Austin Monitor, including to spend more time with his family. The board is considering three applicants for the seat and is due to appoint one of them to fill the vacancy on June 12. Before that, the public will have the opportunity to hear from the candidates in person. This Saturday, May 20, the League of Women Voters will host Alejandro Delgado, Geronimo Rodriguez and Glen Shield in the theater of Travis Early College High School, beginning at 11 a.m. The following Tuesday, May 23, the Austin Council of PTAs will moderate a 6:30 p.m. forum in the Akins High School library. Finally, on May 30, the board itself will interview the candidates in a special meeting open to the public. It starts at 6 p.m. Put forward questions by filling out this survey.
