In early October, Interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley sent out a brief press release to clear up some housekeeping items. In addition to addressing the department’s preparedness for the Austin City Limits Festival, the chief also noted that there was recently a false alarm that made it seem as though a Ford Police Interceptor was leaking carbon monoxide into the passenger area. That was obviously a cause for concern considering the department’s history with Ford. “Additional testing on the vehicle has been conducted and found that the two alarms may have been activated overnight for other reasons,” Manley said in the release. “We do not believe this issue is a Ford issue or related to the repairs they have done on our vehicles.” Good to know.
