The Codes and Ordinances subcommittee of the Zoning and Platting Commission will be reviewing the Tenant Relocation Ordinance to close potential loopholes brought to light by a recent Planning Commission case. At the Dec. 19 ZAP meeting, Commissioner Betsy Greenberg proposed the action be put on the agenda of the next meeting of the subcommittee. She was inspired by a rezoning request made for 2110 Thrasher Lane, where the previous owner of the property had evicted all mobile home tenants in May, a few months before the new owner filed the zoning application. The ordinance, adopted in September 2016 by City Council, mandates that developers give mobile home tenants 270 days notice to relocate, whereas the Thrasher Lane tenants only had 90 days to move out. The Planning Commission had voted on Dec. 12 to recommend denial of the request, with Commissioner Conor Kenny concluding that it was an attempt to circumvent the ordinance. The case will go before Council on Feb. 8.
