Even though all of her Council colleagues running for re-election have opponents, when the deadline passed at 5 p.m. Monday, District 5 Council Member Ann Kitchen was running unopposed for re-election. Nathan White filed the appropriate paperwork designating himself as his campaign treasurer, but he evidently did not have enough signatures to get on the ballot. White told the Austin Monitor that someone from the city clerk’s office called him at around 4 p.m. to say that it didn’t appear that he had enough signatures, and he would get another call by 5 p.m. However, he had not received that second call by 6:30 p.m. White said he needed 112 signatures and provided 136. He said he was disappointed not to be running and that he would consider running again in four years.
