Love a block party? The Aldrich Street Fair: Have a Ball is for you. Located in the Mueller complex, Aldrich Street was named for named for veteran Texas Ranger Roy Aldrich, who operated a farm on this site. The event at 1911 Aldrich St. will feature glassblowing demonstrations, a bubble artist, cocktails by Tito’s Vodka, and live music by the PDA Band. The occasion also marks the unveiling of an Instagram-worthy aerial art installation. The businesses in the area will be participating too. You’ll find food samples, including cookies, chicken nuggets, mozzarella balls, fresh-made biscuits, pizza and more. If you’re thirsty, there will also be drink samples, including beer flights from WhichCraft Tap Room & Bottle Shop, espresso martinis from Halcyon, and bubble tea samples from Bao’d Up. Some businesses will host entertainment, including a tarot card reader and lawn games at the AMLI and a photo booth at Texas Mutual Insurance Company. The retail trailers in the new Aldrich Outdoor Market will also be open for business and games. Drop Inn day care will be providing extended hours to cover the evening of the fair – reserve a spot here – and to top it off, there will be free parking available in the McBee Street Garage. Join the party next Thursday, Sept. 20. It was rescheduled from this Thursday because of predicted bad weather.
