Anderson goes on ‘haircut strike’

Greg Anderson, a member of the city’s Planning Commission and director of community affairs at Habitat for Humanity, feels so strongly about the need for a new Land Development Code that he has vowed not to cut his hair until Council approves the new ordinance. It’s already been a few months, he said, but Anderson’s new motto is: “Housing before hair!” He told the Monitor via text that he would not be cutting his hair “until we allow for responsible land development. Gotta replace our oppressive LDC.” Anderson blames the old code for the high cost of housing that results in people having to move outside the city or become homeless. He concluded, “Feels like we’re more afraid of tall buildings than we are unaffordability. That’s not the Austin I know.”
