Looking for a way to increase your civic involvement? Become a volunteer deputy voter registrar! The Travis County Tax Office is inviting county residents 18 years and older to help their community by registering other citizens to vote. A person is required by Texas law to take a free, one-training course before they can be sworn in as a deputy voter registrar. The tax office holds regular training sessions, which it announces on the Events section of its Facebook page. Those who are interested in attending are encouraged to sign up ahead of time, as space is limited. There are four sessions available in February:

  • Saturday, Feb. 1, 10:30 a.m., Travis County Tax Office, 5501 Airport Blvd. Sign-up sheet
  • Saturday, Feb. 15, 10:30 a.m., First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin, 4700 Grover Ave. Sign-up sheet
