Don’t block these boxes, either
Monday, June 29, 2015 by Elizabeth Pagano
As part of its ongoing campaign to discourage “box-blocking,” the Austin Police Department is shifting its enforcement concentration today. From 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., officers will step up enforcement at the intersections of North Lamar and Rundberg, Riverside Drive and Pleasant Valley Drive, Highway 183 and Loyola Lane and RM 2222 and RM 620. What will officers be looking for? According to a press release, they will be ticketing drivers, pedestrians and bicycles that: violate red lights, block intersections, don’t stop at the proper place, don’t yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, drive in bus lanes, drive recklessly or have other “unsafe moments.” More information about the “Don’t Block the Box” campaign can be found here.
