Lane reductions downtown begin tomorrow
Thursday, September 14, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
A project to replace some failing wastewater lines along Cesar Chavez Street and Colorado Street is set to begin on Friday. That’s not exactly good news for anyone who lives in, works in or visits downtown Austin, which will see a few lane reductions as a result of the work. From 8 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday, there will be traffic controls in place to control traffic. “During this time, Colorado will be reduced to one travel lane between 2nd Street and Cesar Chavez and westbound Cesar Chavez will be reduced to one travel lane between Colorado and Lavaca.” The effects should be mitigated, however. Though the work is projected to go on 180 days, there won’t be any lane closures outside of those weekend hours. Contractors are also expected to stop work for events like Formula One and Austin City Limits Festival.
