Mayor’s Book Club touts local works
Thursday, July 9, 2020 by Tai Moses
The Mayor’s Book Club usually selects a single title to read. But this year, the book club has expanded its focus to include over 30 titles, all by Austin authors. Many were published during the pandemic and their authors missed out on the book parties and author tours that usually accompany the publication of a book. So the Library Foundation, along with the Austin Public Library and the Mayor’s Office, has launched the Mayor’s Book Club Read Local campaign, which shines a spotlight on all books published by Austin authors in 2020, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, young adult and children’s books. The readings, panel discussions and author conversations are scheduled to take place this fall, details to be announced. See the full list of titles here.
